It's no surprise that anyone visiting Goa is always looking to dine in some of the best restaurants in North Goa. And why not? North Goa is the tourist hub, full of great resorts and even better restaurants and cafe´s. Not only do these places offer lip-smacking food, some of them also provide great views of the river or ocean. I love spending my Sundays sitting at a great cafe and enjoying great food while laughing with my friends.
Save this for later!
Best Restaurants and Cafes in North Goa:
Any of my friends who plan a visit to Goa always ask me about the best restaurants in North Goa. Usually, I send them recommendations along with links to my Instagram posts. However, it was about time that I documented my list of the best North Goa restaurants for everyone who is visiting Goa! So take a look at some of the best restaurants in North Goa, that are handpicked favourites of mine, and pay them a visit during your next Goa trip.
1. The Lazy Goose in Nerul
The Lazy Goose, tucked away under the Nerul bridge is just a 10 minute drive away from Reis Magos fort. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and I was greeted by a pleasant breeze from the nearby river. Next, what I saw was a chic yet jaunty restaurant that gave off sailor-vibes. Wooden chairs, blue cushions and potted pink bougainvillea flowers looked so inviting! The food tied off the bow on the entire experience of dining along the river. Moreover, the excellent service was the cherry on top.
Reserve a table in advance. Ask for the tables immediately by the river for the best views!
2. Chef Cantando in Anjuna
While there are a whole bunch of good restaurants in Anjuna, Chef Cantando is hands down one of the best restaurants in Anjuna. Not only do they serve delectable food by the beach, they host karaoke every Tuesday night as well. A sunset sea view, mellow breeze, music and good company - Chef Cantando sets the mood for a great evening. While all dishes here are at par with each other, the quesadilla was out of the world. I've mentioned it once, I'll say it again. This place is, without a doubt, one of the top restaurants in North Goa.

3. Artjuna in Anjuna
Artjuna is one of those places which doesn't even have competition. It's certainly the winner when it comes to the best cafes in Goa serving quality good. The all-day breakfast menu contains a surprising variety of dishes, each of them healthy and highly delicious. Apart from that, they even have a selection of healthy juices and smoothies. The Artjuna breakfast is one of the must-try dishes there. It comes with your choice of eggs, two large servings of bread, a small salad, 4 dips and tea or coffee of your choice. I mean, what else do you really need. The borekas here are also drool worthy.
4. Eva Cafe in Anjuna
Located at the right end of Anjuna beach, Eva cafe is a bohemian paradise that will make you wonder if you accidentally landed in Santorini, Greece instead of Goa. My advice would be to reach here before the lunch hour rush, pick the table facing the ocean, grab a chilled beer and let the ocean view work it's magic on you. The bohemian decor complete with lace fabric, burlap table mats, sea shells and dream catchers adds to the charm of this instagrammable cafe. This cafe is so good and popular that I was bound to include it from my list of best restaurants and cafes in North Goa. You can also read my review of Eva Cafe on Zomato.

5. Purple Martini at Sunset Point in Anjuna
Purple Martini is just a few steps ahead of Eva Cafe. With white chairs and blue cushion, once again you will find yourself at a restaurant that gives off Greece vibes. This restaurant has a decent menu but it's not the food that makes it famous. Catching the sunset at Purple Martini is one of the best experiences in Goa. A chilled beer only enhances the experience. The stunning sunset from here is the main reason why it's featured in my list of the top restaurants in north Goa.

6. Baba au Rhum in Anjuna
Baba au Rhum is another great cafe located in Anjuna. While it isn't located by the ocean, it makes up for the lack of ocean view by providing a fun laidback vibe and scrumptious food at great prices! A major plus point of this place is that they have plentiful seating. The wooden chairs located in the backdrop of lush greenery makes for a great setting for a meal. A noteworthy mention here is the wood-fire pizza. The thin crust and the right amount of sauce tasted delicious.

7. Piccola Roma in Vagator
When it comes to authentic Italian pizzas,it has to be thin crust and it's got to be cooked in a wood-fire over. That's where Piccola Roma comes into the picture. With an extensive pizza menu along with Italian starters, each pizza comes with the perfect thin crust and choice of toppings. Start your meal here with the bruschetta. Even though it's a simple dish comprising of tomatoes and basil on a crusty bread topped with olive oil, yet it's so flavorful. You can trust the Italians to come up with simple heavenly dishes. Piccola Roma is located in Vagator, just one lane behind the main Vagator road.
8. Azure in Baga
Located less than a kilometer from the Baga beach yet so far removed from the chaos of the beach, Azure Bar and Kitchen is a riverside restaurant near the Baga bridge. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, a bar and a menu that is comprised of continental, Italian and Indian specialities. That being said, the soothing ambience, friendly staff and the prime location aside, the food here is the selling point of the restaurant. The potato and leek samosa was one of the most unique takes on the Indian speciality that I've ever tasted. This new restaurant is definitely worth checking out!
2021 UPDATE - The restaurant seems to have shut down.
9. Moki Bar and Kitchen in Porvorim
Located in the prime location of Penha de Franca, Moki Bar and Kitchen is known for it's quirky rooftop decor and an exquisite menu offering mouth-smacking dishes. For starters, I had the parizza, which is a paratha bread with pizza toppings. It tasted exactly like a thin crust pizza. The flavor of the parizza and texture of the base was spot-on. Moving on to the main course, I had their chef style makai and paneer tawa masala which came with a choice of either 2 Kerala parota or rice. Naturally, my love for Kerala made me choose the Kerala parota. The curry, as shown in the picture above, was highly flavoursome and it made me keep wanting more. The parota was soft, and melted in the mouth. I could easily rate this as one of the best restaurants in North Goa for lunch or dinner.
10. Yaki Zushi in Penha de Franca
If you're craving sushi in Goa, look no further. With an Asian menu that contains the likes of dim-sums, tofu and sushi, Yaki Zushi is one of the best restaurants in Goa serving Asian cuisine. The decor and ambience inside the gorgeous red bungalow is just as oriental as their menu. They regularly have sushi festivals so if you're going, make sure to check if they have some special fests or offers going on.

11. Morgan's Place in Penha de Franca
Ever read Alice in Wonderland and wondered what the world looked like to Alice? Well, you don't have to imagine that anymore. Morgan's Place, in Penha de Franca, brings alive the quirky world of Alice. It's unbelievable the amount of work they have done to make the place look like you've been transported to Wonderland with Alice. From walls, floors, chairs, paintings to curios, everything goes along with the theme. If the Alice in Wonderland decor isn't fantastic enough, try the authentic Italian dishes served here. You will be nothing short of amazed! I particularly loved the spaghetti in red sauce at Morgan's Place.
12. Gunpowder in Assagao
Gunpowder, located in Assagao is just 6 km from Anjuna. The place is a combination of restaurant, bar and bohemian boutique store. They have an outdoor seating while the bar is indoors. The outdoor seating comprises of wooden beaches underneath a canopy of colourful artificial flowers and potted plants. The bar is an interesting contrast to the outdoor. Not only is it chic, it also has some bohemian elements which ties it to the overall vibe of the place. This is what makes this restaurant one of the best restaurants in north Goa. The food served here is quintessential South Indian cuisine. If that appeals to your taste buds, hop over to Gunpowder for a great day.
