1. Explore the hipster areas near the East Side Gallery ( near the Berlin Ostbahnhof S-bahn stop).
2. Explore the urban art.
3. Find one of the many offbeat outdoor markets such as the Holzmarkt 25.
4. Explore RAW Gelände - an art and cultural center.
5. Visit the art gallery and have a beer at Urban Spree.
6. Find vintage stores hidden in old junkyards.
7. Grab a drink at a speakeasy bar.
8. Take a photo inside an old photo automat.
9. Teledisko - disco inside a telephone box. You’ll find one near RAW Gelände.
10. See the treehouse on the Berlin wall.
11. Discover the trendy cafes, restaurants, markets and all the quirky stuff that the Kreuzberg district has to offer.

This is not your usual guide to Berlin.
Apart from all the touristy and regular places to visit in Berlin, there are a plethora of cool things you can do in this vibrant, hipster and historic city in Germany.

Here are my recommendations of irregular but cool activities to try during your next trip to Berlin:
1. Have a picnic at the Lustgarden in front of the Berlin cathedral during summer.
2. Shop at one of the many vintage stores and thrift stores in the city.
3. Discover Berlin by boat with @getyourguide . In fact, Get Your Guide has curated tons of activities to try in Berlin, based on recommendations by locals. They even have exclusive activities that you won’t find on any other platform so you know you’re getting a truly unique experience.
4. Ride the iconic yellow (or red) trains in Berlin. Just buy a local Berlin transport ticket for the day (or even multiple days) to use any local transportation throughout the city.
5. Find an outdoor art market or flea market happening in the city. These are very common during summer.

The unique, almost-ancient and well preserved German towns can be found all across Germany but some of my favourites are located in the Harz mountains.

If you happen to visited the Harz region of Germany, you’ll find many gems - a steam engine train, a suspension bridge, treehouse hotels, witch-themed cafés, waterfalls and ofcourse these quintessentially German houses - many of them dating back to the 1400s and before!

Here are the 3 half-timber towns you can’t miss in this region of Germany:

Tuscany trip highlights:

1. Florence - David, Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale Michelangelo and oh so much food!
2. Siena - Undoubtedly the best place I visited in Tuscany with it’s vistas and Tuscan architecture.
3. San Gimignano - A quaint Tuscan town set high that gives you a peek of the Tuscan hills, begging to be explored more.
4. Val d‘Orcia - The place to find the best photo spots in Tuscany.
5. Pienza - Yet another Tuscan place that is as charming and old-world as you’d expect with a large terrace on the side of the town to enjoy the Tuscan landscape.
4. The Food - Oh the food! Authentic Italian pizzas, pasta, ravioli, gnocchi, Italian wine, olive oil, focaccia and what not. Name a food and we’ve most likely eaten it during our trip to Italy!

Expectations vs Reality of visiting Cinque Terre, Italy 🤷🏻‍♀️

We took a trip to the 5 colourful villages of Cinque Terre during a popular weekend and public holiday in May which meant that there were already a crazy crowd.

The floods in Italy at the time, combined with the construction work at a train track in Monterosso plus the crowd led to over 1-2 hours of waiting time for trains.
Even through the journey between any 2 villages in Cinque Terre takes less than 5 minutes, scores of visitors spent most of their time waiting for the trains.
And when the trains finally did arrive, the rush to get in was insane and many people were unable to board due to the trains being overcrowded.

This is why I definitely suggest avoiding visiting such places on extremely popular days because the crowd can get out of hand and overwhelming.

All that aside, Cinque Terre and it’s villages - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso were absolutely delightful and I could travel back there in a heartbeat! ❤️
