One of the most popular cities in Europe, Berlin is popular among visitors for its historical significance, multicultural and artistic scene, nightlife and alternative culture. In fact, the city has something to offer to all types of travelers ranging from families, history buffs, artists, and ofcourse partygoers. So naturally, there is a lot to see and do in Berlin. The rich history and culture of the city has given rise to a number of incredible photographic spots that are compiled into a list below!

This article lists the 13 best instagram spots in Berlin. The spots are scattered throughout the city but most of them are concentrated either around the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) or in East Berlin, within walking distance of one another.
I have tried to include important details of each of the instagrammable places in Berlin, the best time to visit and the location/ how to get there. Let me know if you need more details in the comments below!

1. Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral)
The Berliner Dom or Berlin Cathedral is an impressive church that is located on the Museum Island of Berlin. Not only is it one of the city’s most remarkable landmarks, but is also one of the top Instagram spots in Berlin.
The best angle to photograph the Berliner Dom is from the Lustgarten located directly in front of it. You can either spread a blanket here and take close-up pictures of sit on the ledges on either side of the garden and use leading lines to photograph the Berlin Cathedral. Since the Dom is a popular tourist spot in berlin, it is usually crowded throughout the day. That being said, there are still some unique spots you can find abont the Dom to photograph it. Otherwise, come here early for a crowd-less view.

2. Friedrichsbrücke
Since the Berlin Cathedral is such a beautiful structure to capture , there are various instagrammable places in Berlin to photograph this cathedral. Friedrichtsbrücke is an 18th century bridge spanning over the river Spree that provides a fantastic vantage point to photograph the Berliner Dom. What’s more, in summer you’ll even find artists performing on the bridge which creates a super cool vibe and foreground for pictures of the cathedral.
3. Humboldt Forum Rooftop
Although I‘ve already mentioned a couple of places to get a nice shot of the Berliner Dom, there is one more offbeat instagrammable spot in Berlin that provides a panoramic view of Berlin and is a great spot for photographing the Berlin Cathedral.
The Humboldt Forum is a gallery that showcases artwork often free of cost to visitors. Although some collections require an entrance fee, many of them are open to the public. The building is adjacent to the Berliner Dom. To find the viewpoint shown in the photograph, head to the rooftop of the Humboldt Forum. But before you go, you’ll need to purchase a ticket from the cash counter on the ground floor for €5 per adult. Students get 50% off. Next take the elevator to the top for a panoramic viewpoint of Berlin and a unique instagram spot that is known mostly to locals.

4. Berlin Boat Tour
Taking a boat tour in Berlin is a super touristy thing. But hey, I live just 200 km from Berlin and have visited the city countless times so I would consider myself local-adjacent. Even as almost a local, I have enjoyed a boat tour immensely. Seeing a city from a boat helps you gain a whole new perspective and a unique view of the city as well. I booked my boat tour via Get My Guide. It was a 1 hour tour with commentary. To top it off, we got to see beautiful views of the Berliner Dom and the Reichstag building and got some nice shots as well. I highly recommend taking a boat tour for a unique view of the city.
5. Columns at the Alte Nationalgalerie
Just a few steps from both the Berliner Dom and Friedrichtsbrücke, you’ll find the Alte Nationalgalerie (old National Gallery). While this art gallery‘s temple-like facade is worthy of a mention in this list of the most instagrammable places in Berlin, the columns to the right of the gallery provide a splendid view of the TV Tower. The gallery isn’t that crowded any time of the day so you can come here for a photograph at your leisure. To find this spot, turn to your right side when entering the museum gates that are located directly in front of it. Walk towards the river under the columns for the best view.
6. Museumsinsel S-bahn Station
To get to all the instagram spots mentioned until now, namely Berliner Dom, Friedrichtsbrücke, Berlin boat tour, Alte Nationalgalerie and Humboldt Forum, you will need to take the S-bahn train to the Museumsinsel station. This S-bahn station is one of the most photogenic places in Berlin. The starry roof as a backdrop set against the bright yellow iconic trains of Berlin make the perfect shot for the gram.
7. Brandenburg Gate
Yet another landmark in Berlin, Brandenburg Gate offers a perfect backdrop for stunning instagram pictures. While the best time to get a picture here would be early in the morning when it’s deserted, you can try some creative angles to capture it during the day when the area is packed with tourists.
Another great time to take a picture of the Brandenburg Gate is during new year’s when fireworks go off above the gate. That is an iconic Berlin moment worth standing the in cold for!
8. Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery
The Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery is an important historical structure and also one of the top Berlin instagram spots. This spot can be found just a few meters from the Berlin Ostbahnhof station, making it super accessible. From the Ostbahnhof, walk a few meters ahead to see the 1.3 km long gallery, which is also the world’s largest open-air gallery. A symbol of freedom and reunification, there are some iconic murals on the wall, making it a top instagrammable place in Berlin. Some unmissable pieces on the wall include “The Kiss”, “Ode to Joy” and “Stay Free”.
9. Oberbaumbrücke (Oberbaum Bridge)
Coming to my favorite sunrise spot in Berlin, this iconic bridge is also a dream for photographers. To get here, keep walking along the East Side Gallery along the river until you get a clear view of the Oberbaum bridge. The two-level pedestrian + railway bridge is an iconic landmark in Berlin not only because of Neo-Gothic architecture, but also due to its historic significance. The bridge separates the districts Kreutzberg and Friedrichshain that were once divided during the cold war. In fact, the bridge was once a toll-point for crossing between East and West Berlin. Today, this iconic bridge is a popular instagrammable place in Berlin.
10. RAW-Gelände
East Berlin is known for its alternative lifestyle. Hofs or courtyards like RAW-Gelände are testament to the hip vibe of Berlin. Located in a former railway repair yard, RAW is an industrial space covered in murals and street art, markets, food stalls, a skatepark and some well-known clubs. Warschauer Str. is the closest S-bahn station to get here. Alternatively, you can also walk here from the Oberbaum bridge and the East Side FGallery.
The urban vibe of this site is the embodiment of Berlin‘s spirit and you‘ll even find some cool spots to take pictures here!
11. Goodoldgoods Store near Molecule Man
There is no dearth of hip urban spaces that double down as instagram spots in Berlin. One of these is yet another former industrial area turned junkyard that now houses vintage stores, flea markets and clubs. Situated close to the Molecule Man, there are many cool spots you’ll find in this area but this one was by favorite. I stumpled upon this gem by accident, while exploring East Berlin with friends and I’m glad because the bench just outside the Goodoldgoods antique store provides the perfect typical Berlin vibe for a cool photograph.
12. Schlesisches Tor U-bahn Station
The iconic trains and train stations in the city make for some of the best instagrammable places in Berlin. The Schlesisches Tor U-bahn stop is one of these super cool stations. The bonus point here is that it is just a few minutes‘ walk from the Oberbaum bridge that is mentioned earlier in the list. This U-bahn stop looks particularly impressive during the autumn season with the fall colours all around. If you can time your photograph with a yellow train that goes over the bridge, that would be the icing on the cake.

13. Photoautomat in Berlin
If there’s one more thing that East Berlin is known for, then it is the iconic Photoautomats that are scattered throughout the eastside. These vintage, black and white photo booths are a cultural landmark of Berlin and can be found in various popular and even offbeat spots. I‘ve seen 2 of these photo boots in Berlin- one at RAW-Gelände and the other at the Mauerpark flea market. Walk around the city, discover a photo booth and grab a picture inside for a fun Berlin memorabilia!
Some Other Berlin Instagram Spots
There are a few other Berlin photo spots that are worth mentioning, apart from the list of the best instagrammable spots mentioned in this article above.
Tempelhof Airport or the Tempelhofer Feld is an abandoned airport where you can take photographs and give them a creative edit to make it seem like an actual airport runway.
Victoria Column and the Tiergarten also offer photogenic spots such as in front of the Victoria Column or at a nice cafe in the garden.
Rahnsdorf tram stop is a dreamy photo spot during autumn. Although it‘s a bit outside the city, it is still accessible by local transport.
Wasserfall Viktoriapark is like an oasis within the urban landscape. You’ll find this waterfall in Victoria park, close to the Tempelhof airport.
