Amboli ghat is a hill station in southern Maharashtra. It's located at a distance of 111 km from the Dabolim Airport in Goa. Although the Amboli ghat is known for it's waterfalls, which are abundant during the monsoon season, I went there in the month of January as a weekend escape. Regardless of when you visit Amboli, it's sure to be a relaxing and peaceful holiday. It's best to visit Amboli as a weekend trip from Maharashtra, Karnataka or Goa. The drive through the ghats is scenic and the roads are smooth for the most part. Not only will you get great views but you'll also get to watch mischievous monkeys jumping around. Also, visit Amboli right after the monsoon season. You'll get to enjoy both the glorious waterfalls and the numerous pesky little waterfalls.

While in Amboli, don't fret about hopping from one tourist spot to another. Take time out to set your pace a little slower, relax and rejuvenate. Eat a scrumptious thali at a local-run restaurant, have fun with your friends and family at a waterfall, or watch the sun disappear behind the hills. There are numerous view point to get mesmerizing views of the thick rain forested hills. Not just that, you can also visit temples and walk along an old metal bridge.
Among some of the view points, Mahadev Gad and Kavelshet Point were the best for me. Mahadev Gad can be reached via a poorly maintained road, 3 km off the main road. However, it provides an obstructed wide-angle views of the valley. The same goes for Shirgaonkar Point. Regardless of which point you end up at, go there with some snacks and juices and watch the sun set from the hills. The sky turns into various shades of orange and gives way for stunning sunset photographs.

Where To Stay in Amboli
I stayed at the Green Valley Resort. It's a nice, spacious resort with a large garden opposite to the rooms. Moreover, during the dry season, there's outdoor dining as well. It's a surreal experience sitting under the stars with your dear ones, dining and chatting while a cool breeze blows, in the middle of a secluded resort. This resort has both AC and non-AC rooms. The rooms are simple, clean and spacious. It's the perfect choice for your stay at Amboli ghat. Besides, the resort is just a few meters off the main road. Win win! You can book this resort via the Maharashtra tourism website.
